The Knowledge Services portfolio, which includes advisory, research, content development, stakeholder engagement and institutional level capacity building, allows our client to:

• Advise, implement and embed solutions that are standards-centric to meet diverse client needs
A priority set of these new services is based around providing consulting advice that builds on its expertise in standards and is building a team of consultants who between them will combine industry and standards expertise, with consulting knowledge and skills. This role offers the opportunity for an entrepreneurial consultant to help shape a new business area, contribute to the development of a new team and make a high impact.
• Play key role in developing propositions for our clients newly created consulting business, with a focus on delivering business outcome-driven objectives for clients, through the practical application of standards best practices
• Deliver consulting projects for clients in the UK, Europe, Americas and Asia Pacific regions as required. Flexible and virtual working would be required, and some travel expected. Billable client delivery is expected to be approximately 70% of total role time
• Identify, facilitate and lead discussions directly with potential clients to shape proposals, and contribute to the sale of billable consulting services
• Identify opportunities in the market and support other external marketing initiatives to promote these propositions and capabilities, e.g. representing the business at events; creating whitepapers & collateral
• Validate consulting services market opportunities, linking to the wider Knowledge Solutions service portfolio and other group services
• Support sales, marketing & other externally facing teams, with prospecting to existing and potential clients
• Create, scope, price and deliver bid proposals to secure Knowledge Solutions consulting business
• Manage relationship with third party partners as required to deliver consulting services, acting as main BSI representative in these relationships
• Work closely with other business areas to ensure high quality team delivery in won business, acting as an interface and knowledge source and meeting or exceeding agreed customer satisfaction targets
Qualifications and professional experience
• Strong consulting experience including delivering high impact advisory work, analyzing data and information, to extract insights and make recommendations
• Experience working in at least one or of the following areas: digital related consulting activity, change management in the respect of digital technology or innovation, smart and sustainable cities, sustainability or carbon reduction related consulting activity. Experience working in the transport sector would be also desirable.
• Experience of working closely with clients and key stakeholders, holding key client relationships and managing various stakeholders to drive forward outcomes
• Experience working in and managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience of shaping and helping to sell consulting opportunities, with the ability to win client trust
• Experience of working across a range of international markets and working with culturally diverse client
groups, ideally both in the public and commercial sector
• Experience of operating within a matrix organization
• Excellent net-worker with strong communication skills with experience of building and sustaining relationships
• Demonstrable persuasion and influencing skills, and specifically, the ability to articulate the benefits of standards-centric consulting services
• Ideally, but not compulsory, experience or knowledge of standards creation and development
• Degree or equivalent in Business, Economics or other area relevant to role
